The summer of 2025, while traveling through Tongmu Guan in Wuyishan, I was introduced by Mr. Liang Tianmeng of Junde Tea to a remarkable white tea unlike any I had tasted before. Mr. Liang, the son of Liang Junde (the creator of the very first Jin Jun Mei), and now Deputy General Manager and Technical Director of Junde Tea, personally recommended this tea to me.

Named Tongmu White Tea (桐木白茶), it is crafted from the same tea plants used for the local “Xiao Chi Gan” (小赤甘 )black tea, yet processed with traditional white tea techniques. Tongmu Guan offers an extraordinary natural environment—high mountains, misty clouds, flowing streams, and rocky terrain, that nourishes the tea plants and enriches their character. As a result, the brewed tea reveals a deep floral-fruity aroma and a full, satisfying flavor.

Compared to the refreshing elegance of Fuding white tea, Tongmu White Tea is richer and more layered.
